Razorback Trio Completes Their Time in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Three Razorbacks competed this past week at the ITA Central Regional Championships Tournament at Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tenn. hosted by the University of Memphis.
On Thursday, the Razorbacks picked up a singles win with Natalie Oliver, who defeated Emma Dvorackova, representing University of Memphis in a straight-set match, 6-4, 6-3. Later that day, Oliver earned her second singles win in a three-set battle against Meg McCarty representing, University of Kansas, 6-7, 6-4, 6-0. Anastasija Adeikyte was defeated during the qualifying round by Reya Coe, representing University of Nebraska, 4-6, 4-6, concluding her singles campaign at the tournament.
Also on Thursday, Brooke Schaefer and Anastasija Adeikyte teamed up for doubles action on Thursday, earning an 8-2 victory over Oral Roberts’ Milana Bozhko and Mia Jaramillo.
During main draw play on Friday, Brooke Schaefer began play for the Razorbacks but was defeated by Alyssa Novoa with the University of Tulsa, 0-6, 5-7, marking the end of her singles tournament run. Oliver fell short to Maralgoo Chogsomjav with Kansas State University, 6-7, 0-6 eliminating Oliver from singles play.
In Friday’s doubles action, the Hogs picked up their second doubles win against No. 8 Yerkezhan Arystanbekova and Anna Putilina in a close match 8-6. However, later that day, the Hogs fell short to Lily Cvanciger and Sara Kastakova in a thrilling match, 7-8, ending the Hogs run in the ITA Central Regional Championships.
Elsewhere, Daria Koreshkova represented Arkansas at the UTR PTT Newport Beach Tournament. During day one of competition Koreshkova took down Brandy Walker in a three-set match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Continuing play, she picked up a second win after defeating Elena Goodman in another three-set match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Daria kept her momentum going, earning her third win in a dominant straight set win, 6-1, 6-1. During Friday’s matchup, Koreshkova took her first loss of the tournament to Veronika Miroshnichenko in two sets, 2-6, 2-6. She quickly bounced back during the last day of the tournament securing a win against Tanvi Pandey, 6-1, 6-4.
The Razorbacks wrapped up the ITA Central Regional Championships with two singles victories from Oliver, and two doubles wins from Schaefer and Adeikyte. Meanwhile in Newport Beach, Koreshkova finished with four wins, closing the tournament with a straight-set victory.
