Razorbacks Close Road Tilt with Run-Rule Victory Over Texas A&M-Commerce
COMMERCE, Texas – The No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks capped their four-game road tilt with an 8-0 (5 inn.) run-rule win vs. Texas A&M-Commerce Monday afternoon at John Cain Family Field.
The victory moves Arkansas to 2-0 all-time vs. the Lions. The Hogs enhance their record to 23-6 overall this season.
Holding Texas A&M-Commerce to just four hits across five innings, three Arkansas pitchers combined for the Hogs’ ninth shutout of the year.
Arkansas fused together eight runs on 13 hits – 10 of which were scattered across the first two innings.
Five Razorbacks pieced together multi-hit efforts led by Reagan Johnson’s 3-for-3 performance that included two runs scored and a stolen base. On the season, Johnson has 13 multi-hit games and is a perfect 10-for-10 on stolen bases.
Starting LHP Hannah Camenzind helped her own cause with a 2-for-3 day that included two RBI singles. Rylin Hedgecock went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kennedy Miller continued to impress after registering two base hits, an RBI and a run scored. Cylie Halvorson busted two RBI doubles. Bri Ellis, who increased her hitting streak to nine games, and Nia Carter each recorded a hit.
Three Arkansas arms combined for the shutout. Tabbing her fifth start on the year, Camenzind (7-0) seized the win after spinning three effective frames where she limited Texas A&M-Commerce to two hits while striking out four. Camenzind worked around a pair of walks and did not allow a runner to reach third.
RHP Nikki McGaffin relieved Camenzind in the fourth, retiring three of five batters faced as she gave up a base hit and a walk. RHP Kasey Wood made her first career appearance in the circle in the fifth. Wood put down three of the four batters she faced to aid Arkansas in the five-inning win.
