Razorbacks Complete Rd1 of 3 at Folds of Honor Collegiate
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The 17th-ranked Arkansas men’s golf program officially opened its season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, played at American Dunes Golf Club. The Razorbacks are tied for 11th after shooting a 303 (+19).
The men’s field will play the morning wave on Tuesday and GOLF Channel will provide live coverage from 8:30-11:30 am (CT). The third and final round will have the men playing in the afternoon on Wednesday with live GOLF Channel coverage from 3:30-6:30 pm (CT).
Alabama was the only team to shoot under par and leads the 15-team field with a 9-under-par 275. Illinois is second at 286 (+2) and three teams – Notre Dame, Texas and Michigan State – are tied for third at 287 (+3).
Freshman Gerardo Gomez paced the Razorbacks in round one. He is tied for 18th after carding a 2-over 73. Gomez reeled off 16 pars with bogeys on holes seven and 15. Thomas Curry is tied for 36th with a 4-over 75.
Matthis Lefevre was 6-over (77) and is tied for 49th. Erich Fortlage is one stroke behind Lefevre and is tied for 51st (78). Mark Stockdale led the team with four birdies and played the back nine at even par but it tied for 60th shooting a 79.
