Razorbacks Down Ohio, Move to 3-0
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 12 Arkansas Razorbacks (3-0) handled business Friday at Joan Joyce Field, defeating Ohio (1-1) 7-3 to move to 3-0 on the season.
Redshirt senior RHP Morgan Leinstock (1-0) shined in her Razorback debut to claim the win. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native hurled 6.2 frames with seven punchouts while curbing the Bobcats to five hits. Leinstock blanked the Bobcats for six innings before Ohio scored three runs on four hits in the top of the seventh. Sophomore LHP Hannah Camenzind faced one batter in relief, forcing a groundout to second to end the game.
Arkansas smoked 10 hits against the Bobcats, marking its second game of the season recording 10 or more hits.
Sophomore Reagan Johnson tied her career high in hits after going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. It was Johnson’s third career game with four hits. Redshirt senior Nia Carter filed a 2-for-4 performance with a team-high three RBIs. Redshirt senior Rylin Hedgecock finished 2-for-4, including a double, with two RBIs. Junior Bri Ellis also knocked in a run on a double to left center.
How It Happened
The Razorbacks jumped to an early lead in the first thanks to Ellis’ RBI double to left center that scored Johnson from third. Hedgecock granted Arkansas a 2-0 lead on an RBI double of her own to score Ellis.
In the second, Carter scattered a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0. Then, Hannah Gammill’s sacrifice fly followed by Hedgecock’s second hit of the game increased the lead to 6-0.
The Hogs scored their seventh run off the bat of Carter, who sprayed an RBI single to right, pushing Kramer home.
