How It Happened

The Razorbacks fell behind early in the first set, trailing 12-2 after three consecutive attack errors from the Hogs. Arkansas managed to string together five of six points late in the set, but Kentucky walked away with a 25-15 set-one win.

The second frame told a similar story as the first, but for the second day in a row, the Razorbacks came out firing in the third. Sophomore Jillian Gillen rallied three-straight kills mid-way through the third set to give her Hogs a 15-12 lead at the media timeout.

After forcing Kentucky into back-to-back attack errors, the Razorbacks evened the score at 22-22 late in the set. Trailing 24-23, Arkansas looked to Gillen once again and she delivered. Thanks to an assist from Gracie Ryan, Gillen’s kill kept the Wildcats from the match win.

Kentucky then called on senior outside hitter Avery Skinner to close things out. Skinner posted the final two kills of the set to clinch the sweep for the Wildcats with a 26-24 win in the third set.
