Razorbacks Fall to No. 44 LSU, 4-1

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 59 Arkansas men’s tennis team fell short to No. 44 LSU on Friday night in their return to Billingsley Tennis Center. The Hogs (12-9, 0-8) dropped the doubles point and the Tigers (11-7, 2-6) carried their momentum into singles play, eventually taking a 4-1 match victory.

The Razorbacks and Tigers split the first two matches in doubles play. On court three, LSU’s Penzlin/Stoupe defeated Arkansas’ Jacob Sweeney/Foster Rogers and juniors Stefanos Savva and Alan San Franco responded with a win on court two for the Hogs, 6-4. In the deciding match, No. 48 Stefan Latinovic and Nick Watson overcame an early deficit to win 7-5 over juniors Adrien Burdet and Melvin Manuel in the No. 1 spot.

In singles play, the Tigers took the first match with a victory on court one from No. 58 Ronald Hohmann over Savva. Arkansas rebounded on court five, as freshman Benedikt Emesz took down Julien Penzlin in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-3. With the win, Emesz now has four singles match wins this dual season. However, LSU closed out the match with two more straight-set victories on courts three and four, as No. 92 Dong defeated Burdet and Hotard bested Sau Franco.

The Razorbacks are at home again on Sunday, April 2 as they host No. 8 Georgia at Billingsley Tennis Center.
