Arkansas volleyball is on the road again this weekend as the Hogs are set to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Alabama is currently 9-8 overall and holds a 1-7 SEC record. Prior to last season’s loss against the Tide at home, Arkansas was on a 10-match winning streak against Alabama, including its last trip to Tuscaloosa in 2023. The Tide’s conference win came in five sets against Georgia, who the Hogs lost to earlier in the conference slate. Alabama has played three of its eight conference matches to five sets. The Tide are in the top half of the conference in opponent hitting pct. (.203) and aces/set (1.91), the latter second in the SEC.

Mississippi State is 13-5 with a 3-4 conference showing so far. All three of State’s SEC wins have come in Starkville, and the Bulldogs are 5-0 overall at home. Arkansas has a winning record in Starkville but hasn’t brought a victory home from the Bulldogs’ gym since 2022. State leads the SEC in digs/set at 15.52, almost 1.5 more than the No. 2 team. The Bulldogs are also in the top half of the conference in aces/set, kills/set, assists/set, and hitting percentage.

The Razorbacks are 9-9 overall and have gone 1-6 in the SEC. Arkansas is coming off a tough stretch of four straight ranked opponents over the last two weeks and did manage a win over then-No. 12 Texas A&M during that time. The second half of the SEC slate does get a bit easier for the Hogs, with five of their remaining opponents in the bottom eight of the conference, but five of those matches do come away from home.

Friday’s match is slated for 6 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Sunday’s matinee is at 2 p.m. in Starkville, Miss. Both matches will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
