Razorbacks On The Road for Three-Match Stretch

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team is back on the road traveling to Florida for a pair of matches then onto South Carolina for an SEC dual.

The Razorbacks (12-5, 0-4) will head to Orlando for a non-conference matchup against No. 57 Central Florida on Wednesday, March 22 before facing SEC opponents No. 22 Florida on Friday, March 24 and South Carolina on Sunday, March 26.

Last time out, the Razorbacks fell in a tight 5-2 decision to No. 27 Texas A&M. Junior Melvin Manuel moved to 6-2 on court two with a win over No. 66 Raphael Perot for his first win over a ranked opponent. The second point in the match was won by Adrien Burdet, taking a third set tiebreaker for a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 11-9 victory on court three.

The Knights are 4-10 this dual season, coming off of a close 3-4 loss to No. 2 Texas. In doubles, the Knights took a 1-0 lead with the UCF pairing of Cronje/Pavel taking down the No. 3 ranked Longhorns duo. The Knights earned two ranked victories with Liam Branger and freshman Yassine Dlimi taking singles victories to round out the match.

No. 22 Florida is 8-7 this spring and 3-2 in conference play, defeating Vanderbilt and Ole Miss last weekend on the road. The Gators had a major comeback against Vanderbilt, after losing the doubles point. The top three singles courts led the Gators to victory with No. 78 Will Grant having an undefeated weekend.

Arkansas will face their second top-5 opponent this season, traveling to No. 4 South Carolina. The Gamecocks suffered their first loss in conference play this weekend, falling to No. 14 Mississippi State, 2-5. South Carolina’s two points came in singles with wins from No. 6 Toby Samuel and No. 5 Connor Thomson. Samuel leads the team with a 14-2 mark at court one and is currently on a five-match win streak.
