Razorbacks Open Spring Season with 6-1 Win over Hawaii
HONOLULU – The Arkansas men’s tennis team (1-0) opened the 2025 spring season on a high note with a 6-1 victory over Hawaii (0-3) Thursday night at UH Tennis Complex.
The Razorbacks secured the early lead with a doubles sweep to earn the first point of the match. Jean-Baptiste Badon and Brendan Boland impressed in their Arkansas debuts as the duo teamed up to claim a 6-0 win over Hernandez/Urano at the No. 3 position. Marino Jakic and Connor Smillie clinched the doubles point for the Hogs after a 6-4 victory against Hou/Visaya in the top spot. Lukas Palovic and Jakub Vrba’s match on court two went unfinished with the Razorback tandem trailing 3-5.
The Hogs opened singles play by taking five first sets as Arthur Bellegy collected the first singles point for Arkansas with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Ngo at the No. 6 position. Benni Emesz followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Urano on court five, while Palovic clinched the match for the Razorbacks in his debut after a 6-0, 6-2 win over Collins at the No. 2 position.
No. 85 Vrba picked up another point for the Hogs, securing a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Hou on court four as the remaining courts were played out. Jakic posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hernandez at the No. 3 position while the Rainbow Warriors earned their only point of the match after a three-set victory from No. 77 Visaya over Božo Barun at the top spot.
Arkansas will return to UH Tennis Complex tomorrow night to face Hawaii at 7 p.m. CT.
