Razorbacks Record Four Wins on Friday at PTT 25K Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team finished the first round of playoff matches Friday at the PTT 25K Fayetteville as the Razorbacks claimed four wins, including Katarina Pavlechova advancing to the finals in the 1st place playoffs.
After going undefeated in Group A, Pavlechova qualified for the 1st place playoffs and clinched her spot in the finals following a straight-set victory over Lucia Donnelly. Pavlechova will face Caroline Driscoll in the championship match tomorrow at 10 a.m. Anet Koskel also closed out the group stage unbeaten to earn a berth in the 1st place playoffs before dropping her match in the opening round to Driscoll in straight sets.
In the third place playoffs, Jimena Gomez Alonso fell to Riley Crowder in straight sets to end her run in the tournament. Two Hogs competed in the 4th place playoffs as Olga Bienzobas and Katie Ferguson both earned wins to set up an all-Razorback final tomorrow afternoon. Bienzobas cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Sia Cariov while Ferguson advanced to the finals on a walkover.
Lilitha Ndungane secured a win in the 5th place playoffs over teammate Morgan McCarthy to claim her spot in the championship match. Ndungane moves on to play Magdalena Bresson tomorrow following Pavlechova’s match at 10 a.m.
