Razorbacks’ Season Ends at NCAA Austin Regional

AUSTIN, Texas – The 8th-ranked Arkansas men’s golf program had its record-setting season come to an end on Wednesday after a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Austin Regional, played at the University of Texas Golf Club (par 71).

The Razorbacks finished with rounds of 289, 283 and 300 for a 20-over-par total of 872.

Host team Texas won at -27 and will be joined by Tennessee (-11), Notre Dame (-6), Utah (-2) and Wake Forest (+2) at the NCAA Championship. (Note, Wake Forest and BYU were tied after 54 holes but the Deamon Deacons which a one-hole playoff.)

Jacob Skov Olesen led Arkansas by tying for 15th. He posted back-to-back 69’s in rounds one and two and turned in a 75 in the final round for a 4-over total of 213. After finishing T24 in the season opener, Olesen placed among the top 15 in each of his last 10 events.

For the season, Olesen:
• became the first Razorback to finish the season with a scoring average below 70 with his record-setting, single-season stroke average of 69.94 (2,238 over 32 rounds). The previous record was 70.38, set by Julian Perico in 2019-20.
• set the school record for rounds in the 60’s with 16.
• tied the school record for rounds at par or better with 24. (Craig Lile also had 24 in 1999-00.)

Thomas Curry placed 40th with his 6-over total of 219 (69-74-76).

Christian Castillo had the best round by a Razorback Wednesday. The senior carded a 74 and moved up four spots into a tie for 46th (75-72-74=221 / +8). Also tying for 46th was Matthis Lefevre (76-70-75+221 / +8). Manuel Lozada rounded out the fivesome with a 79 in the final round.

OTHER NOTES:
• Arkansas shattered the program record for season scoring average at 282.97 (9,055 strokes over 32 rounds). The previous record was 284.40, set in 2019-20.
• John Driscoll III finished the season with a scoring average of 70.77 (2,123 over 30 rounds) to rank fourth on the school’s single-season list.
• Thomas Curry had a scoring average of 72.39 (2,027 over 28 rounds) to rank as the fourth-best season scoring average by a Razorback freshman.
