Razorbacks Sweep Kansas State at ITA Kickoff

PALO ALTO, Calif.  – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team defeated Kansas State in their final match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Razorbacks move to 3-1 in four straight road matches to begin the dual season.

Arkansas got off to a hot start in doubles play, grabbing the lead with wins on courts one and two. The duo of Grace O’Donnell and Lenka Stara took a dominating 6-1 win on court two over Wildcats’ Florentine Dekkers and Manami Ukita. Juniors Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink clinched the point with a 6-1 victory over Kansas State’s Gruszczynska/Suarez on court one.

The Razorbacks kept the momentum rolling into singles play, winning the first set on all six courts. Junior Indianna Spink blanked her opponent 6-0 in the first set and followed up with a 6-3 second set victory to win her match and put Arkansas up 2-0. On court five, Morgan Cross put the Hogs within one matching Spink’s 6-0, 6-3 score. Cross is now 4-0 on the season in singles play. Senior Kelly Keller clinched the match win for the Razorbacks, defeating Florentine Dekker 6-4, 6-2 on court one.

Arkansas is set to open up its home season next week, facing Kansas on Friday, Feb. 10 and Memphis on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
