Razorbacks Take Down Lamar, Improve to 10-3
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 52 Arkansas men’s tennis team (10-3) won its third match this week and fourth straight overall after defeating Lamar (4-7) on Saturday afternoon at Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Hogs took the early lead with a doubles sweep to claim the first point of the match. Karlo Kajin and Stefanos Savva teamed up for the first time this year to earn a 6-2 victory in the top spot, while Jakob Mosvold and Gerard Planelles Ripoll cruised to a 6-2 win on court three. Melvin Manuel and Foster Rogers’ match went unfinished with the Razorback duo ahead 5-3.
Arkansas started out strong in singles play, taking the first set on five courts. Kajin cruised to his fifth singles victory of the spring, besting Haruki Omori-Cowie in straight sets at the No. 4 position. Savva quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Brandon Do on court three, while Planelles Ripoll clinched the match for the Hogs after a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Max Amling in the top spot. Manuel and Mosvold nearly secured singles wins, finishing one game shy on courts two and six.
The Razorbacks will travel to Dallas, Texas, next week for a matchup against No. 60 SMU on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
