Razorbacks To Compete in South American Amateur

FAYETTEVILLE – Five Razorbacks – Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira, Segunda Oliva Pinto, Manuel Lozada, Julian Perico and Juan Camilo Vesga – will compete the 2022 South American Amateur, played Jan. 12-15 at Quito Tennis and Golf Club in Quito, Ecuador.

The Championship was not played last year due to COVID. However, the last time the event was held (2020), Fernandez de Oliveira finished runner up (68-71-73-69=281). He additionally placed 13th in the Championship in 2019.

The five Razorbacks are currently ranked among the top 24 players in South America including:

  • Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira – #1 in South America (#43 in the world).
  • Julian Perico – #4 in South America (#2-ranked player from South America in the field).
  • Segundo Oliva Pinto – #5 in South America (#3-ranked player in the field).
  • Juan Camilo Vesga – #14 in South America (#7-ranked player in the field).
  • Manuel Lozada – #24 in South American (#11-ranked player in the field).
