During his sophomore campaign, Emesz compiled a 15-11 overall singles record. Emesz primarily competed at the No. 5 position, where he finished with a 10-6 record. Emesz opened the year with four wins in his first five matches during non-conference play. Emesz recorded a notable 4-match winning streak in SEC contests and earned a point in Arkansas’ SEC victories against No. 52 Vanderbilt, No. 25 Auburn and No. 37 LSU. Emesz picked up a win in the second round of the SEC Tournament over Mahjoob (Georgia). In doubles play, Emesz achieved a 2-1 record with partners Jared Horwood and Alan Sau Franco.
As a Freshman (2022-23)
Singles Record: 7-7 dual // 3-5 SEC
Doubles Record: 0-2 dual // 0-2 SEC
In his first season, Emesz ended dual play on a four-match win streak and went 3-0 at the No. 6 position for the Razorbacks. Emesz scored the lone point for Arkansas in three matches, including a win over Vanderbilt’s Macsen Sisam, 6-3, 6-0, in the SEC Tournament to end the season.
Personal
Benedikt is the son of Martin and Constanze Emesz and has two siblings, Paul and Lena. He is majoring in Business and Economics and plans to continue playing tennis at the professional level once he graduates. His favorite athlete and the person he admires most is Rafael Nadal. Benedikt enjoys skiing, playing soccer, and biking, and served in the Austrian military.
