Proved to be an impressive dual threat for the Longhorns by going a perfect 5-0 from the circle (10 appearances/two starts) with a team-best 1.00 earned run average (ERA) and 22 strikeouts over 28 innings while also batting .368 (21-for-57) with four doubles, a squad-high five home runs and 15 runs batted in (RBI) over 25 games played (24 starts) … Managed five multi-hit and five multi-RBI efforts … Scattered three hits over 4.1 frames of scoreless relief and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the 13-5 blasting of Texas Southern (3/7) … Hammered two home runs in a 4-3 loss to Fresno State (2/29) … Allowed one earned run and three hits over 3.2 innings of relief to earn the victory in an 8-6 upset of No. 2 Washington (2/28) at the Judi Garman Classic …Crushed a two-run home run as part of the Longhorns’ 11-0 (5 inn.) rout of No. 12 Tennessee (2/14) at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico … Fired a complete-game, four-hit shutout and went 2-for-3 with a double during a 4-0 win over Cal Baptist (2/13) … Picked up her first career pitching win in a relief appearance against Texas A&M-CC (2/9), striking out five over 3.0 perfect innings while going 1-for-3 at the dish with two runs and a RBI … Blasted her first career home run via a three-run shot in the third inning of Texas’ 12-0 (5 inn.) rout of Lamar (2/7) … Posted a remarkable 3-for-3 effort with a double and a run during her first collegiate game against Wichita State (2/6).
High School: A four-year letter winner in softball at Glenda Dawson (TX) High School, Day is coming off a senior campaign that saw her bat .561 overall with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 43 runs batted in, while posting a 1.06 ERA in the circle on the way to earning Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State, all-region first team and District 23-6A Most Valuable Player honors … As a junior, she was tabbed 2018 Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Second Team All-State as well as first-team all-region and the District 23-6A Most Valuable Player after posting a 14-4 pitching mark with a 0.95 ERA and 144 strikeouts … Batted .521 with 15 runs scored, four doubles, 15 home runs and 40 runs batted in … Day was named the District 22-6A Newcomer of the Year in 2016 after hitting at a .447 clip … Earned Academic All-District 23-6A honors all four years of her high school career
