Melliyal Schmitt was raised in Saint-Gilles on Réunion Island but moved to Guyancourt, France, to train at the French National Golf Performance Center at the age of 14. She has been selected to compete for the French National Team three times, and has won five of her last eight tournaments.
Shauna Taylor on Schmitt: “Mel adds a lot to our team on and off the golf course. She has trained the last few years in France at the Centre de Performance – Golf National and has developed a lot. She is a hard worker and has shown a lot of improvement over the past year. She is not only a great player but an even better person. She will come in and have a big impact not only in the area of golf, but will make our family unit even stronger.”
