Season Continues With WNIT Action
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team earned the program’s seventh selection into the Women’s National Invitational Tournament the organization announced Monday.
Arkansas (20-14) opens first round action at home hosting the Houston Cougars (15-15) in Bud Walton Arena on Thursday, March 21. Postseason tickets are on sale now online. Contact the Razorback Ticket Center at 479-575-5151 for more information beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Razorbacks made a historic late-season run reaching the Southeastern Conference Tournament finals for the first time in program history, upsetting three teams in Greenville, South Carolina, last week. The run moved the Razorbacks into position for a postseason appearance.
Arkansas versus Houston
The Razorbacks are 14-8 all-time against the Cougars but the teams have not faced each other since the 1991 season. Arkansas won seven of the last eight meetings and the Razorbacks are 6-2 in Fayetteville against the Cougars.
Arkansas in the WNIT
• Arkansas is making its seventh appearance in the WNIT since the tournament began in 1998 with a 16-team field.
• The Razorbacks are 14-6 in the WNIT winning the tournament title in 1999 in front of more that 14,000 fans in Bud Walton Arena.
• Arkansas has won at least one game in each of its six previous appearances.
• The Razorbacks are 12-2 in home WNIT games.
• Arkansas’ first WNIT appearance was in 1999 and its most recent appearance was in 2013.
• Arkansas played in the NWIT in 1987 (winning the title) and in 1996 before the creation of the WNIT.
Fans are reminded that parking for the WNIT is the same as regular season games. Season-long parking hangtags will be used for all WNIT games at Bud Walton and public parking is available in Lot 56. Tickets in rounds one and two are $5 for general admission and $3 for GA youth. University of Arkansas students are free with their IDs and courtside seats are just $12.
About the WNIT
First-round action begins Wednesday, March 20 and continues through Friday, March 22. Second-round games are slated for March 20-22; Round 3 runs March 27-29 and Round 4 is scheduled from March 30-31. The semifinals of the WNIT will be held April 3-4, and the championship game will be played at 3 p.m. ET, Saturday, April 6 and be televised on CBS Sports Network.
A total of 41 teams in the tournament won at least 20 games this season. This year’s Postseason WNIT features five teams from the Big East and Conference USA and four teams from the Mid-American Conference and West Coast Conference. Seven conferences placed three teams each – American, Big Sky, Big Ten, Colonial, Horizon, Mountain West and Sun Belt. Other conference represented include the Atlantic 10 (2), Big 12 (2), Ivy (2), Southland (2), America East (1), Atlantic Coast (1), Atlantic Sun (1), Big South (1), Big West (1), Metro (1), Mid-Eastern (1), Missouri Valley (1), Northeast (1), Ohio Valley (1), Pac-12 (1), Patriot (1), Southeastern (1), Southern (1), Southwest (1), Summit (1) and Western Athletic (1).
There are five teams that either won or tied for first place for their conference title in 2018-19.
