Six Razorbacks Advance to Finals At The PTT 25K Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ten members of the Arkansas men’s tennis team continued play today at the PTT 25K Fayetteville as the Razorbacks claimed six wins, including Melvin Manuel picking up a victory to advance to the Finals in the 1st place playoffs.

The 1st place playoffs featured a matchup between two Hogs as Manuel faced Božo Barun in the Semifinals. Manuel advanced after going unbeaten in Group D while Barun finished atop Group A. Manuel won the first set 7-5, but Barun responded with a 6-1 victory in the second set. Manuel bounced back to win the third set 6-1, clinching his spot in the Finals.

Three Razorbacks competed in the 2nd place playoffs this afternoon, including another matchup of Arkansas teammates. Stefanos Savva pulled out a three-set victory over Alan Sau Franco to advance to the Finals. Gerard Planelles Ripoll also went the distance to defeat Evan Bynoe, setting up a matchup against Savva tomorrow.

Benedikt Emesz dominated in his match today as he bested Victor Tosetto 6-1, 6-3. Emesz will face David Stevenson in the Finals of the 3rd place playoffs.

Foster Rogers picked up another win for the Hogs in the 4th place playoffs, beating Gus Tettamble in three sets. Jake Sweeney dropped his Semifinal match to Timothy Carlsson Seger in straight sets, ending his run in the tournament.

Connor Smillie secured a victory in the 5th place playoffs while Jared Horwood fell in his Semifinal match to Volodymyr Zakharov.
