Smillie Named SEC Freshman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Connor Smillie was recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Week, his first weekly honor this season, as announced by the league Wednesday.

Smillie improved to 7-1 in doubles play this spring, earning wins in all three matches this past week. Smillie and partner Jake Sweeney were the clinching court in their matches against Drake and Washington to take the doubles point for the Hogs. The duo is 5-0 when playing together this season and have played a key role in the Razorbacks securing the doubles point in seven matches this year.

In singles, Smillie advanced to 2-0 this spring, claiming a 6-2, 6-1 victory on Saturday against Dario Ristovski (Seattle). Smillie has won each of his two singles matches in straight sets on the season.

Smillie and the Hogs are back in action this afternoon against No. 61 Tulsa at 5 p.m.
