Soccer Suffers First SEC Loss at No. 10 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Razorback soccer team (3-4-1, 1-1-0 SEC) dropped its first match of SEC play on Friday night, a 1-0 loss at No. 10 Alabama (9-1-0, 2-0-0 SEC).

The Tide took the lead in the 34th minute through one of the SEC’s top scorers, Larkin Thomason. She headed in a cross from Olivia Belcher for her eighth goal of the season.

The Hogs controlled the tempo later in the half and came out ahead in shots, 9-8, after the first 45 minutes.

Arkansas midfielder Natalie Wagner nearly tied the match in the 55th minute with a powerful shot outside the 18-yard box but hit the crossbar and went over the goal.

Alabama doubled its lead in the 74th minute on a corner kick from Reece Ward.

In addition to the two goals, the Tide forced Smith to make a season-high six saves.

Arkansas was held scoreless for the third time this season.
