Soccer wraps up preseason with 6-0 win over SIUE

FAYETTEVILLE – Eighth-ranked Arkansas concluded its preseason slate of exhibitions Saturday night with a 6-0 rout of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Midfielder Patricia Tsokos opened the scoring in the 40th minute and the Hogs scored five more goals over the course of 24 minutes.

Tsokos joined Bella Field and Taliyah Spain as freshmen scorers. Spain found the back of the net with one second remaining on the first half clock and Field notched the night’s final goal.

Forwards Sophia Aragon, Anna Podojil and Ava Tankersley rounded out the scoring contingent.

“Preseason is about making sure we all understand who we are and imprinting all that goes with that,” head coach Colby Hale said. “We have pushed ourselves hard in every area. We grew in some areas and we have some areas we need to continue to grow in.”

The Hogs will open the season at Razorback Field on Thursday, August 17, against in-state foe Arkansas State. First kick is set for 6:30 p.m. and the match will be streamed on SEC Network+.
