Spink, Cross Win on Final Day in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four members of the Arkansas women’s tennis team concluded their week at the PTT 25K Fayetteville today with Indianna Spink and Morgan Cross winning their final matches of the tournament.
Spink picked up the first win of the day for the Razorbacks, defeating Jennifer Jackson in the Finals of the 2nd place playoffs 6-4, 6-4. Spink totaled five wins on the week with her only loss coming to teammate Anet Koskel in Round 1 of the group stage.
Cross followed with a victory in the 3rd place playoffs as Mouna Bouzgarrou retired in the second set. Cross won the first set 6-3 and was leading 2-0 in the second set before the end of the match. Cross finished the tournament on a four-match winning streak.
After an impressive week at the PTT 25K Fayetteville, Koskel fell in the Finals of the 1st place playoffs to Malkia Ngounoue in straight sets. Koskel concluded the event with five victories of her own and only dropped two sets throughout the week.
In the 4th place playoffs, Lenka Stara retired from her match against Natalie Oliver. Stara closed out the week with two wins in her first action of the fall season.
Two Razorbacks are in action this upcoming week as Carolina Gomez Alonso and Kelly Keller compete in the ITF 15K Hilton Head which runs from September 25-October 1.
