Stout advances to NCAA Championship finals

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Arkansas all-American Michelle Stout concludes her season Saturday taking part in the 2008 NCAA Championship individual finals in Athens, Ga. Stout qualified by way of tying for the vault win in the first session of the team championship Thursday. The Endwell, N.Y., native qualified posting a 9.90 on vault to tie for the win. She competes beginning at 5:00 p.m., Saturday and is scheduled to vault second in the 10-gymnast rotation. Each gymnast gets two vaults, similar to international competition, with judges averaging the two scores to determine final places. Stout and teammate Casey Jo Magee both earned all-America honors Thursday. Stout was a first-team selection while Magee earned two second-team honors on vault and bars. Stout tied for fifth on both events for Arkansas. As a team, the Gym’Backs finished a program-best fifth in their session and 10th overall concluding the team’s season.
