Kacey Murphy

Kacey Murphy begins his first season as a student assistant for the Razorbacks after recently wrapping up his professional career.

Murphy, a pitching standout from 2016-18, helped Arkansas baseball achieve one of its best seasons in school history in 2018 behind a runner-up finish at the College World Series. His junior campaign featured an 8-5 overall record in 17 starts, including a 3.20 ERA and 85 strikeouts over 101.1 innings pitched.

The Rogers, Ark., native made 19 appearances and 10 starts in 2017, compiling a then-best of 3.65 ERA over 49.1 innings of work. Murphy struck out 68 batters and gave up just 20 earned runs, as he was one of only two Hog pitchers to throw a complete game that season. A seven inning, two-hit, eight-strikeout performance in the SEC Tournament against Florida helped him garner SEC All-Tournament Team accolades to cap the 2017 season.

Murphy was taken in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers in the 11th round.
