Texas A&M Transfer LHP Kate Munnerlyn Signs with Hogs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – Former Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Kate Munnerlyn has transferred to Arkansas to join Head Coach Courtney Deifel and the Razorbacks.

As a sophomore in 2026, Munnerlyn appeared in 23 games while making seven starts and registering 40 strikeouts across 48.1 innings pitched. She picked up the win during her first start of the season after collecting a career-high eight strikeouts and allowing just one unearned run on two hits and a walk during a 9-1 win over Providence (Feb. 6). On Feb. 28, during an 8-0 five-inning run-rule victory over Kennesaw State, Munnerlyn pitched the Aggies’ first perfect game in 21 years by fanning three of her 15 batters faced and using only 51 pitches and tossing 12 first pitch strikes in her five innings of work. She later earned a victory at eventual National Champion Texas after striking out two and allowing three runs on three hits and four walks over 4.1 innings of work (Feb. 29). During NCAA regional play, the Los Gatos, Calif., native tossed a combined three innings of shutout relief with four strikeouts in a pair of victories over UConn (May 15-16) during regional play.

Munnerlyn appeared in 13 games as a freshman while making one start and posting a 1-0 record with two saves. She finished the season with 19 strikeouts across her 26 innings pitched. She earned her first collegiate win after striking out three and allowing just three hits and a walk over three scoreless frames in a 6-2 triumph over Loyola Marymount (March 29). The left-hander earned her first save of her collegiate career by striking out the final batter of the ballgame against Virginia (Feb. 15). She registered a season-high seven strikeouts while yielding two unearned runs on two hits and a walk during five innings of work against Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 23) Munnerlyn later notched her second save courtesy of two scoreless innings of relief that featured just a hit and a walk allowed during a 7-6 win over Texas Tech (March 2). Defensively, she posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with seven putouts.

Prior to her time with the Aggies, Munnerlyn was a standout at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif., where she lettered each year of her high school career and was named the 2024 California Gatorade Player of the Year. She led Saint Francis to a 28-1 record and Central Coast Section Open Division Championship as a senior while going 15-0 and recording a 0.52 ERA with 183 strikeouts in 107.1 innings of work. At the plate, she hit .356 with six home runs and 35 RBI. In 2023, she went 16-3 with a 0.55 ERA while fanning 171 batters in 114 innings pitched and helped lead her team to the NorCal Championship game in addition to being named the 49ers Cal-Hi Sports CCS Pitcher of the Year. Munnerlyn went 12-1 with a 1.24 ERA and 80 strikeouts across 85 innings of work as a sophomore, helping the Lancers win NorCal, WCAL, and CCS titles. She appeared in 14 games and went 5-0 with a 1.12 ERA and 41 strikeouts across 37.2 innings pitched as a freshman in 2021 for the Lancers’ WCAL and CCS Championship-winning squad.

Munnerlyn is the sixth transfer to join the Razorbacks in the 2026 cycle, alongside Omaha left-handed pitcher Grace Hornbuckle, UCF designated player/outfielder Kendall Yarnell, Boston outfielder Kylie Doherty, Nevada infielder Katie Wetteland, and Notre Dame transfer infielder Ava Zachary.

Arkansas is coming off a historic 47-13 campaign, which featured the Razorbacks’ first trip to the Women’s College World Series in program history. The 2026 Arkansas squad’s 47 victories were the second-most in program history, while the Razorbacks’ 26 run-rule wins were a program record. At Bogle Park, Arkansas posted a 29-3 record, which marked the second-most wins and second-best winning percentage since the stadium opened in 2009, trailing only 31 wins in 2022 and a .931 winning percentage during a 27-2 campaign in 2018.
