Three Razorbacks Finish Inside Top 10 at The Fin
FAIRFIELD, Texas – Three Razorback women’s golfers finished inside the top 10 and No. 20 Arkansas finished fifth at The Fin at Freestone Lake and Golf Club in Fairfield, Texas.
Sophomore Swetha Sathish, playing as an individual, earned her first top-five finish at T4 and led the Hogs with a 2-under 214 over the three rounds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Senior Maria Jose Marin rallied on Wednesday with her only round under par, a 70, to finish at T7 with a 3-over 219.
Sophomore Sara Brentcheneff added her fourth straight top-10 finish of the season and saved her best for last with an even 72 in the final round.
Junior Natalie Blonien had the third-best score on the team side at 10-over. Sophomore Ebba Liljeberg and freshman Melliyal Schmitt each shot 14-over.
Arkansas has finished inside the top five in each of its first four events this season, with its highest finish, runner-up, coming at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational earlier this month.
The Hogs will close out the fall slate with their first-ever appearance at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 26-28), one of college golf’s premier events which features the top-performing teams from the previous season’s NCAA Championship.
Last season, Arkansas made the national semifinals for the first time in program history before falling to USC in match play, 3-2. The Razorbacks join other semifinalists USC and Eastern Michigan, along with quarterfinalist Oklahoma State, which Arkansas defeated to advance to the semifinals.
The East Lake Cup will be broadcast live on Golf Channel each day from 2-5 p.m.
