Tynan Tabbed to SEC Community Service Team

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s golf’s Ffion Tynan has been named to the SEC Community Service Team, as announced by the league Thursday. Tynan is Arkansas’ representative on the team and one of 14 among SEC women’s golfers to be honored with the award.

As one of the leaders in community service hours among all student-athletes at Arkansas, Tynan has volunteered at a myriad of events this year. With head coach Shauna Taylor’s Choose Confidence program, Tynan has played an integral role in assisting coach with clinics, seminars and events to give kids the tools and knowledge to grow their self-confidence. Last month, Tynan took the initiative ad organized and planned an entire field day with the Spark Foundation, which gave kids an opportunity to meet and interact with their college role models.

Tynan has also participated in the National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic, Shop with the Razorbacks, MLK Youth Day, Blessings Golf Course Egg Hunt and the Blessings Staff Appreciation, among other events. The sophomore spends a lot of time volunteering at elementary schools and youth clinics throughout the year, as well.

On the golf course, Tynan has participated in two tournaments this year. She logged a career-low 5-over 218 (76-69-73) at the Battle at the Beach, which also saw her tally a career-low 69 in the second round.

The Arkansas women’s golf team is Florida bound for the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional from May 8-10 at PGA National Resort. Pairings and tee times will be announced this weekend.
