Udwadia Earns 300th Career Win as Arkansas Defeats Drake 4-1
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas men’s tennis head coach Jay Udwadia earned his 300th career victory as the Razorbacks (6-2) took down Drake (6-3) on Wednesday evening at Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Hogs took the early 1-0 advantage with another doubles sweep. Jared Horwood and Melvin Manuel teamed up to earn a dominant 6-1 win on court one, while Connor Smillie and Jake Sweeney improved to 4-0 as a tandem this season, claiming a 7-5 victory to secure the doubles point for Arkansas.
Stefanos Savva had another strong performance for the Razorbacks, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 3 position while Alan Sau Franco quickly followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on court five. The Bulldogs grabbed their only point of the match on court four as Markus Bolin defeated Benedikt Emesz in straight sets. The Hogs responded with a 7-5, 6-2 win from No. 107 Melvin Manuel at the No. 2 position to clinch the match.
Arkansas continues its season in Seattle, Wash., as they travel to face Washington and Seattle on Saturday, February 17.
