Volleyball #ProHogs Contributing in Asia, Europe

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas volleyball program has continued its global reach with former standouts extending their playing careers in the professional ranks. Amanda Anderson (Philippines), Roslandy Acosta (Germany) and Ashley Vazquez (Greece) are currently active on team rosters while Raymariely Santos and Janeliss Torres-Lopez are prepping for the start of the Puerto Rico league next spring.

After playing in Denmark and France in the past two years, Anderson is currently a member of the Cignal HD Spikers in the Philippine Super Liga. The team is out to a 3-0 start in the league’s Grand Prix competition with Anderson starting each match and averaging 3.08 points per set. She scored a season-high 18 points in Cignal’s five-set win over Philips Gold. The team’s next match is scheduled for Thursday.

Acosta is just one match into her season with Rote Raben Vilsbiburg in Germany. Competing in the Bundesliga champion’s playoff, the team won its opening match of the season. Acosta scored six points in the 3-1 win over VC Wiesbaden. Last season, Acosta was a member of Volley Koniz in Switzerland where she was a top-10 scorer in the Swiss Volley league.

On the heels of a successful career in her home country of Puerto Rico, Vazquez is making her European debut with AO Markopoulou in the Greece A1 League. She has helped the team to an undefeated start through the first three weeks of the season with the next match scheduled for Sunday. Vazquez started her professional career with back-to-back league title as a member of Criollas de Caguas in Puerto Rico.

During their time at Arkansas, Acosta and Santos earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention accolades while Anderson was the 2012 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Collectively, this group also garnered four All-SEC selections. Still pursuing her degree, former standout Meredith Hays remains active within the volleyball world as a color analyst for the Razorbacks’ broadcasts on the digital platform of the SEC Network.
