Volleyball Set for Split Weekend Against Oklahoma, at Florida

Arkansas volleyball has two more conference matches on deck this week, starting with Oklahoma at Barnhill Arena on Friday and a road trip to Gainesville, Fla. to face the No. 4 Gators on Sunday.

As one of Arkansas’ newest SEC opponents, the Hogs have the second-least number of meetings with the Sooners and only have four wins in 11 tries. OU and Arkansas share conference wins with Texas A&M and Alabama, and the Sooners also defeated South Carolina and Texas, two of those on the road. OU is in the top five of the conference in hitting percentage (.265), assists/set (13.13) and kills/set (14.04). Overall, the Sooners are 11-7 on the season.

After their matchup with the Sooners, the Razorbacks head down to Gainesville to take on the top five Gators at their place. Florida has just one loss in conference play, to Vanderbilt on Oct. 11. Of their nine conference matches, five have been sweeps for Florida, and the Gators are 9-0 at home this season. Florida is in the top half of the SEC in all categories and tops the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.160) and blocks/set (2.79). The Gators have compiled a 17-2 record, their only other loss to No. 5 Wisconsin.

Arkansas is coming off two road five-setters, a reverse sweep win at Alabama and a loss at Mississippi State. The Hogs are 10-10 overall on the season and 2-7 in SEC play with six regular season matches left on the schedule.

Friday’s match will be broadcast live on SEC Network with Kevin Barnett (PxP) and Brandon Rosenthal (analyst) on the call. First serve against the Sooners is set for 6 p.m. It will be Arkansas’ Halloween Bash at Barnhill, with pregame Trick or Treating with the Razorback mascots and a costume contest (masks and props prohibited). The Hogs’ Sunday match against the Gators starts at noon and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
