FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Volunteer registration is now open for the 2019 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships, being hosted by the University of Arkansas May 17 – 29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville. The hosting committee is seeking over 400 volunteers to fill a variety of roles on 19 different committees, including marshals, scorers and standard bearers.

“Volunteers are crucial to the success of hosting an event of this magnitude,” said Chris Pohl, tournament director of the 2019 NCAA Golf Championships and Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Arkansas. “The 2019 Championships will mark the first time the University of Arkansas has hosted the final round of an NCAA Golf Championship, and we are excited to showcase our home course at Blessings Golf Club on this national stage. The community’s support is integral to making this event a memorable championship experience for all involved.”

Interested volunteers are able to choose their committee and shift preference through the online registration process, and are encouraged to register early since committees and shift times are filled on a first come first serve basis. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and cannot be enrolled in high school to participate.

The volunteer program is tiered based on the number of shifts a volunteer is able to complete. The standard Big Red Volunteer package is for those volunteers who plan to complete a minimum of four shifts. The volunteer fee is $45, which includes two golf polos, official tournament headwear, a commemorative volunteer pin, four weekly grounds tickets for the NCAA Championships and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, as well as meals during scheduled shifts. Those interested in completing 10 or more shifts are eligible to register as a Boss Hog Volunteer. Boss Hog Volunteers will also receive an opportunity to play one round of golf at Blessings Golf Club, an invitation to attend a volunteer appreciation event and an official tournament outerwear.

The 2019 NCAA Golf Championships is a 72-hole stroke play team competition that concludes with the top eight teams participating in a match play playoff. In addition to the top team, an award is also given to the lowest scoring individual competitor. The Women’s Championship will be held May 17 – 22, 2019 and the Men’s Championship will be held May 24 – 29, 2019.
