FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jakub Vrba etched his name in Arkansas men’s tennis history by earning All-America honors from the ITA on Wednesday.
Vrba was ranked No. 20 in the final rankings from the ITA to solidify his All-America status. He is the first Razorback from the men’s program to earn All-America honors in singles play and finish the season ranked in the Top 20 since Jesus Salazar in 2018. Vrba joins an elite group of Hogs to end the year in the ITA’s Top 20 with Salazar, Mike Redlicki in 2017 (No. 12), Blake Strode in 2009 (No. 13), current assistant coach Adrians Zguns in 2006 (No. 18), Oskar Johansson in 2001 (No. 8) and 2000 (No. 20) and Marcus Hilpert in 1994 (No. 5).
Vrba wrapped up his sophomore campaign with a 25-10 record in singles play. He reeled off eight wins in his first nine matches to open the dual season in January before winning five of his first six matches in Southeastern Conference play. He earned First-Team All-SEC recognition to become the first Razorback since 2022 to earn first-team honors.
