Women’s Golf in Ninth at Moon Golf Invite

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Arkansas women’s golf stayed steady on the course Monday afternoon, firing a 4-under 284 in the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational. After a 3-under 285 on Sunday, the Razorbacks didn’t waver from ninth place out of 17 teams with a 7-under 569 through 36 holes. The Razorbacks are now one stroke behind eighth-place Vanderbilt and two after seventh-place Clemson, as well as five ahead of 10th place Michigan State. Arkansas has been strong on par 4s with a 3.92 average through 36 holes.

Kajal Mistry paces the Razorbacks for the second straight day after tallying a 3-under 69 in round two to climb 11 spots to tie for eighth. She was bogey-free for the second straight round, firing birdies on holes three, eight and nine, as well as 15 pars, including on each of the back nine holes. Mistry has the most pars and the seventh best par 4s average (3.85) among the field.

Giovanna Fernandez was the second lowest scoring Razorback in round two, logging a 1-under 71 to push ahead 16 spots, tying for 57th going into round three. Fernandez found some trouble on hole 10 with a double bogey, but finished strong with three birdies, four pars and just one bogey in the final eight holes.

Miriam Ayora registered an even par 72, sitting in a tie for 27th going into the final round of play. On Monday, Ayora recorded three birdies and 12 pars and went bogey-free through the first eight holes.

Meghan Royal was solid once again, logging an even par 72. She recorded just two bogeys through those 18 holes, while logging two birdies and 14 pars. Royal moved up two spots to land in a tie for 38th through 36 holes.

Ela Anacona came through with a solid finish, coming up with an eagle on hole 18. She also recorded birdies on holes four, 12 and 15. Anacona moved to a tie for 50th after carding an even 72 on Monday.

Playing as an individual, Ffion Tynan logged a four-over 76 in round two. Tynan had 14 pars and one birdie but fell into trouble on hole 12 with a triple bogey. She is in a tie for 78th with a 7-over 151 through two rounds.

Arkansas has the third most pars (124) and ninth most birdies (30) among the field.
