Women's Golf Receives Top 5 Preseason Rankings, Marin & Brentcheneff Earn Preseason All-America Honors

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s golf earned preseason top 5 rankings from Golf Channel and Golfweek on Monday.

The Hogs were ranked fourth in Golfweek’s preseason top 30 and fifth in Golf Channel’s ranking.

Senior Maria Jose Marin and sophomore Sara Brentcheneff received preseason All-America honors from both. Marin was placed on the first team and Brentcheneff appeared on the third team.

Marin is coming off a strong junior year that featured 11 top 10 finishes in 12 starts and one win at the Clemson Invitational. She finished the season with a top 5 finish at the NCAA Championship and was ranked second in the final Scoreboard rankings. Off the college circuit, Marin won the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April and finished T8 at the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open in June.

Brentcheneff made a quick impact upon arriving in Fayetteville in January and made her first start at the Puerto Rico Classic in February. She had one top 10 finish but won her quarterfinal and semifinal matches at the NCAA Championship in May. The Lyon, France, native finished tied for third at the Ladies European Amateur Championship in July.

Arkansas starts its season next Monday, September 5, at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina.
