Women's Tennis Drops Road Match to No. 10 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (4-15, 1-11) dropped its road match to No. 10 LSU (19-4, 9-3), falling 4-0 Friday evening at LSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers took the lead after grabbing the doubles point with wins on the bottom two courts. Di Girolami/Rivera struck first for LSU with a 6-0 victory over Jimena Gomez and Katarina Pavlechova at the No. 3 position. No. 70 Erickson/Sahdiieva clinched the doubles point for the Tigers after a 6-2 win against Anet Koskel and Grace O’Donnell on court three. No. 44 Olga Bienzobas and Carolina Gomez’s match versus No. 7 Brace/Cross went unfinished with the score tied 3-3 at the top spot.

LSU carried its momentum into singles play, picking up first-set victories on all six courts. On court three, Di Girolami defeated Pavlechova in straight sets while No. 47 Cross took down Bienzobas 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. The Tigers secured the final point of the match on court five as Graham bested Koskel, 6-2, 6-4.

At the No. 4 position, O’Donnell fought back to force a third set against Sahdiieva before her match went unfinished. No. 66 C. Gomez fell 1-6 in the first set to No. 24 Brace in the top spot and led 4-3 in the next set as her match was abandoned. J. Gomez dropped the first set to Erickson at the No. 6 position and was leading 4-3 in the second set before her match concluded.

The Razorbacks are back in action on Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m. to face No. 32 Ole Miss.
