Women's Tennis Flourishing During Spring and Summer Months

The University of Arkansas’ women’s tennis team has taken advantage of time away from campus to focus their efforts on staying sharp in the classroom. All nine Razorbacks earned academic awards for the 2020 spring semester, four Hogs earned departmental honors (3.00-3.49), two student-athletes landed on the AD’s List (3.50-3.99) and three were named to the Champion’s List with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

On Friday, the SEC announced its 2020 Spring Academic Honor Roll, where five Razorbacks were honored for their academic successes. Those listed included Lauren Alter (Management/Organizational Leadership), Jacqueline Carr (Accounting), Myrna Olaya (Clinical Mental Health Counseling), Tatum Rice (Biology) and Martina Zerulo (Communications). Seniors Carr and Olaya have been named to the honor roll all three years they were eligible to make the list.

A total of 1,402 student-athletes were named to the 2020 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll, by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. The 2020 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field. It is based on grades from the 2019 Summer, 2019 Fall and 2020 Spring terms.

Sophomore Laura Rjikers’ hard work in the classroom paid off as well, as she was announced as one of 80 Razorbacks across all sports named to the SEC’s First-Year Honor Roll on Tuesday (July 14). Rjikers and teammates Olaya, Kelly Keller and Thea Rice all earned personal best GPAs for the 2020 spring semester as well.
