Women’s Tennis Headed to Stillwater for NCAA Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team is making its 20th trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history and the first time under first-year head coach Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar. The No. 30 Razorbacks are traveling to Stillwater, Okla. where they will play No. 18 UCLA in the Round of 64 on Saturday, May 7.

The Razorbacks finished the regular season 16-9 overall and 8-5 in conference play, its most SEC wins since 2009. Arkansas finished fifth in the SEC and is coming off of a quarterfinals run in the conference tournament, falling 4-1 to the Florida Gators.

Arkansas will play their fourth regional in Stillwater, Okla. and its first against UCLA. The Hogs and Bruins have faced off twice before, both times in the 2008 season with UCLA coming out on top.

First- and second-round competition takes place May 6-7 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 19-28.
