Arkansas Gets Second Straight Sweep on Saturday
The Arkansas volleyball team continued the Razorback Invitational on Saturday night and earned a second sweep in as many days as the Hogs took down UTA 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17.
Fifth year transfer and Benton native Laci Bohannan made her first start for the Razorbacks and put up 15 kills with a .393 hitting percentage, five blocks, and two aces. Sophomore Parker Duncan matched her kill total with 15 to lead the Hogs on the night.
Junior setter Kiki Remensperger paced the offense with 35 assists, which officially put her over 1,500 in her career. She had two aces as well to keep the service pressure on for Arkansas.
The Hogs had a great night defensively, with freshman libero Madi Benne posting her first double-digit dig night with 10. Arkansas finished the match with 10.5 team blocks, led by senior Layla Smith with six. It was the first time the Hogs put up double-digit blocks since September 2025.
Set 1
While the Razorbacks ultimately came away with the victory in the first set, it didn’t come quite as easy as the team’s season opener the night before. The Mustangs punched first and kept a 5-4 lead, but Arkansas responded quickly with a 3-0 run capped off by an ace from Bohannan that made it 7-5 Hogs. From there, Arkansas kept up the tempo and pushed the lead to four at 11-7 with another ace, this time from Remensperger. UTA wouldn’t go quietly though and kept the deficit to one at times until a kill from Duncan made it 17-14 and forced the Mustangs to call time. While UTA was able to push it over 20, a kill from Bohannan sealed the 25-20 set victory and put the Hogs up 1-0.
Set 2
Arkansas had a better start to the middle frame with an early 6-3 advantage, but the Mustangs answered back with a 7-1 run that flipped the lead to their side at 10-7. After a timeout by the Hogs, UTA got the first point back, but Arkansas locked in with four straight points and tied it at 11-all off a block from Smith and Romani Thurman. It was tight after that and the Mustangs stayed right on the Hogs’ tail, taking a 20-19 lead. The Razorbacks rattled off three in a row soon after, which brought it to set point for Arkansas. UTA got one back, but another Smith/Thurman block made it 25-22 for Arkansas to go ahead 2-0.
Set 3
Neither team began to pull away in the third set until after the 10th point, when a 3-0 run featuring a kill from Bohannan and an ace from Gaby Cornier put Arkansas up 12-10. The Hogs extended the lead to four before the technical timeout, and after a brief rally from the Mustangs, reached 20 points first courtesy of a Smith kill. UTA wasn’t in striking distance after that, as a service error from the Mustangs kicked off a closing 3-0 rally from the Hogs, punctuated with a block from Alexander and Bohannan.
