Arkansas Tennis Continues Winning Ways at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Razorback tennis teamcontinued season-opening play Saturday at the Navy Invitational on the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy. During the day’s actions, Arkansas picked up four wins, including three singles victories, against the team from Saint Joseph’s.

Sophomore Bradwin Williams, playing at the No.-2 position, defeated Nick Tuxen by a score of 6-2, 6-4. Taylor King and Jorge Villanueva also earned straight-sets wins on the day. King beat Pat Cerutti, 6-3, 6-1, while Villanueva continued his strong play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Brian Costello.

In doubles play, Villanueva once again teamed with Sergey Avdeyev from the University of Oklahoma and defeated the team of Brian Costello and Matt Prusack, 8-0. The only setback of the afternoon came when King and Williams fell to Cerutti and Phil Garabedian, 9-8, in a tight match.

“It was another good day for our guys which is good to see, especially early in the year,” head coach Robert Cox said.

Arkansas will conclude play at the Navy Invitational against a combined team with players from Maryland and Princeton. The Razorbacks will be teamed once again with the partial team from Oklahoma. First serve is scheduled for 7 a.m. CT. Log on to www.hogwired.com for complete results.
