Former Razorback Prentice named Senior Associate AD

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Razorback men’s track and field student-athlete Terry Prentice has been named Senior Associate Athletics Director for Athlete Brand Development and Inclusive Excellence at the University of Arkansas, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek announced on Tuesday.

Prentice, a two-time graduate of the University of Arkansas, returns to the Hill after working previously as a Director of Development with the Razorback Foundation. Most recently, Prentice served as the Associate Athletics Director and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and men’s and women’s track and field sport administrator at the University of Kansas.

In his new role at the University of Arkansas, Prentice will provide key leadership for the newly created Athlete Brand Development unit, which will focus on preparing Razorback student-athletes to maximize opportunities related to anticipated and pending Federal, State and/or NCAA Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) legislation. Additionally, Terry will coordinate the development and implementation of action plans to assist in advancing the department of athletics in all aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prentice will also serve as the sport administrator for the nationally ranked men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs.

“We are pleased to welcome back Terry Prentice, a former Razorback student-athlete and outstanding athletics administrator, to the University of Arkansas,” Yurachek said. “He has a deep passion for the Razorbacks and will be instrumental in preparing and our student-athletes to maximize opportunities related to their Name, Image and Likeness and other emerging personal brand opportunities. Terry will also be an asset in leading our continued advancement toward diversity, equity, and inclusion in every phase of our athletics program. As a former Razorback, he understands what it takes to be successful as a student-athlete and the importance of and focus on the success of our student-athletes at the University of Arkansas.”

In conjunction with the already in place Name, Image, and Likeness working group, the Walton College of Business and our Office of Student-Athlete Development, Terry will develop overall Brand Building and NIL Educational curriculum for all student-athletes. He will also be responsible for establishing and creating business focused educational opportunities in conjunction with Office of Student-Athlete Development.

“I would like to thank Hunter Yurachek for the opportunity to rejoin the Razorback family,” Prentice said. “I decided to pursue a career in athletics because I believe in the generational impact student-athletes can create for themselves through sport and education. Exciting times lie ahead and I can’t think of a place better equipped to educate student-athletes on how to enhance and maximize their personal brands than the University of Arkansas. Deanna and I are excited to reconnect with the Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas community.”

Prior to his time at the University of Kansas, Prentice worked in fundraising with the Razorback Foundation and with the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation at the University of Mississippi. During his time with the Razorback Foundation (2014-18), Prentice helped raise support as part of several major campaigns, including a $160 million renovation and expansion of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium as well as various track and field projects. He also managed several internal functions, such as football and men’s basketball priority seating and parking operations.

As a Razorback student-athlete, Prentice was an All-SEC and Honorable Mention All-American decathlete. From 2009-12, he helped the program claim five Southeastern Conference championships in indoor and outdoor track and field and served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

A native of Pomona, California, Prentice earned his bachelor’s degree in history in 2012 and master’s degree in sports management in 2014 from the University of Arkansas. Terry and his wife, Deanna, who also recently joined the Razorback Athletics family as a certified athletics trainer for the Razorback men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams, reside in Fayetteville.
