Hogs Add Two On National Signing Day

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Women’s Golf and Head Coach Shauna Taylor announced the signing of two future Razorbacks today, as both Meghan Royal and Reagan Zibilski put pen to paper.

“I am so pumped for the signing of our 2022 class,” Taylor said. “Meghan Royal and Reagan Zibilski had to endure a crazy COVID recruiting process that was unfamiliar for everyone. Getting to know someone via Zoom and FaceTime was different, but I knew from our calls with both of them that we were about to hit the recruiting lottery. Meghan and Reagan will both come in and leave a forever mark on Arkansas Women’s Golf.  We are very excited to have them become a part of our Razorback family and add to our already incredible group of young women.”

Royal, a native of Carlsbad, California, racked up the accolades during her high school and junior career in the Golden State. She also made the most of her time during the COVID-19 pandemic, as she was able to play on The Cactus Tour as an amateur, playing alongside golfers like Mina Harigae, Carlotta Ciganda, Cheyenne Woods, Sophia Popov, among others. Most recently, Royal was crowned the CIF 2021 San Diego Champion, finishing the event nine-shots under par. She also placed in the top-15 in both the 2019 (T5th) and the 2021 (T11th) California State Women’s Amateur Championships.

“I chose Arkansas for many reasons,” Royal said. “I have so much respect for all of the coaches and programs that I got to know during this process, but my heart is in Fayetteville. First, Coach Shauna and Coach Mike are amazing! I really connected with both of them. I have met and love all the girls on the team, and it feels like family. The facilities are second to none, and I know I will be able to improve my game here. Finally, the legacy that this program has is special – it has a rich history among its alumni, whether they are playing on the LPGA Tour, working for GOLF Channel or have found success in the business world.”

When Royal arrives on campus, she will study business.

“We became familiar with Meghan Royal from former Razorback Alana Uriell,” Taylor said. “Alana and Meghan are both from Carlsbad. When we met Meghan, we knew right then we wanted her to be a part of our team. Her family is great and she has a burning competitive spirit that is awesome to watch. She has played some great junior golf and has tested her game on the Cactus Tour with many professional golfers. Meghan has held her own against the pros while being tested and successful at the junior golf level. Like Reagan, Meghan has only scratched the surface of what she can do and I’m excited to help her continue to grow. I had the opportunity to watch her play a high school tournament late last spring and I was so impressed with how she interacted with her teammates while being relentless in her pursuit of winning. She is a great student and will come in and have an immediate positive impact in all areas of school, golf, and community.”

Zibilski, meanwhile, comes to the Hill via Springfield Catholic High School. She brings a bevy of junior experience to the table, as well, as she made the cut at the 2020 US Women’s Amateur, qualified for the 2019 US Women’s Open, while winning the Missouri High School State Championship twice. For her efforts, Zibilski was named a Rolex Junior All-American. She was also tabbed one of 10 athletes of the decade by her local news outlet.

“I chose Arkansas because it has all the best. The best coaches, the best facilities, and the best track record of developing great players,” Zibilski said. “It felt like home the moment I saw it.”

Zibilski is currently undecided in what she will study, but says she is leaning towards business.

“We always say that recruiting is about timing, and that definitely holds true for us connecting with Reagan,” Taylor said. “I happened to be on the range at the 2019 US Women’s Open with Stacy Lewis and I looked over and saw an amateur hitting balls down from her. She was hitting bombs, so I immediately called Mike to have him do some research for me. He called me back and said she was from Springfield, Missouri, and I couldn’t believe it. From that moment on, I knew we wanted Reagan Zibilski to be a Razorback. Reagan and her family have been unbelievable from the day we met. Reagan has had a great junior career, but her best golf is still ahead of her. She is long, strong, and has a very good golf IQ.  She is the kind of young woman that we have built our foundation on. She is an excellent student, loves the game, and is an amazing connector of people. She will do great things here at Arkansas and I can’t wait to watch her blossom.”
