Hogs at No. 12 in ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Poll

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas softball earned a No. 12 ranking in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Poll that was released on Tuesday.

The Razorbacks are one of 10 SEC programs to garner a spot in the poll, the most by any conference and are followed by the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12 with four teams apiece. Last year, Arkansas began the season ranked No. 6 in the poll.

It’s the third consecutive year Arkansas has posted a top-15 preseason ranking and the sixth straight year the Razorbacks have been ranked inside the ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Poll under head coach Courtney Deifel.

Last week, Softball America and D1Softball ranked the Razorbacks No. 8 and No. 18 in their preseason polls, respectively.

The Hogs are coming off their third consecutive 40-win season and a top-four SEC finish along with the program’s sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth in 2023. Earning the No. 11 national seed, all four of the program’s national seeds have been accumulated under Deifel.

Arkansas opens its 2024 schedule at the Paradise Classic in Boca Raton, Fla., with opening day slated for Thursday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. against Marshall. The Hogs open their home slate on Thursday, Feb. 22 against Illinois State.
