1-2 finish for Razorback alums in Diamond League 100m hurdles

DOHA, Qatar – Competing in the final Diamond League meeting in an altered 2020 track and field season, Razorback alums Payton Chadwick (Asics) and Taliyah Brooks (Asics) finished first and second in the 100m hurdles on Friday, producing two of the top 10 times for the year.

Chadwick posted a season best of 12.78 seconds for the victory while Brooks established a career best of 12.86 as runner-up. While Chadwick improved her U.S. leading time for the season, she also moved to 6th on the 2020 world list.

Brooks, who entered the meet with a season best of 13.05, is now second to Chadwick on the U.S. list and 10th on the world list for this season. Her previous career best of 12.94 was set in 2018 along with a wind-aided best of 12.82.

They each contested a second event in the Doha meet. Chadwick produced a career best of 11.51 in the 100m, placing eighth, while Brooks finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 20-8 (6.30).

Chadwick entered the meet as the U.S. leader with a time of 12.89 from the Rome Golden Gala held on Sept. 17. Her winning time in Doha is just off the 12.70 career best she established in 2019. In the 100m, she bettered her previous best of 11.69 from 2016 and a wind-aided best of 11.57 from 2019.
