#11 Razorback MGolf Finishes T-3rd at Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The #11 Arkansas men’s golf team closed the 2023-24 regular season with an even-par round of 284 and tied for third (284-285-284=853) at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial, played at Virginia’s Birdwood Golf Course.
A pair of Razorbacks – Jacob Skov Olesen and John Driscoll III – each recorded their fifth top-10 finish (in 9 events) this season. Olesen tied for seventh to post his eighth-straight, top-15 finish of the season while Driscoll tied for 10, giving him his sixth top-15 finish.
Tenth-ranked Tennessee cruised to the team title with a 12-shot win over #6 Florida State. The Vols were 4-under in the final round and posted a 54-hole score of 825 (-27). Florida State had the round of the day at -9 and finished runner-up with a 15-under score of 837. Arkansas tied #31 North Florida and #41 Northwestern for third with a score of 853.
Olesen jumped nine spots to tie for seventh (209 / -4) thanks to his final-round 67. He had 10 pars and birdie through 11 holes then had three birdies over the next five holes to get to -4. He dropped a shot on the 17th hole but closed with a birdie to post his 67. With his 69 in the opening round, he leads the team with 12 rounds in the 60s (of 26 rounds this season).
Driscoll carded a final-round 72 with a double bogey, bogey, two birdies and 14 pars. With his 67 in round two, Driscoll has 18 rounds of par or better (in 26 rounds) this season.
A trio of Razorbacks – Christian Castillo, Thomas Curry and Manuel Lozada – tied for 39th with a 6-over total of 219. John Daly II, who played as an individual, tied for 51st (221 / +8).
Arkansas will turn its attention to the postseason, starting with the SEC Tournament which starts April 24.
