#17 Arkansas Battles #24 Oklahoma in Final SEC Home Series
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 17 Arkansas (32-17, 13-11 SEC) matches up against No. 24 Oklahoma (30-16, 12-12 SEC) this weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium in the final SEC home series of the season. First pitch between the Razorbacks and Sooners is 6 p.m. Friday, May 8, on SEC Network+ with Brett Dolan (play-by-play) and Troy Eklund (analyst) on the call.
Game two of the weekend series gets underway at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, on SEC Network+ with Dolan and Eklund in the broadcast booth. Arkansas and Oklahoma conclude the weekend with a 1 p.m. first pitch in the series finale Sunday, May 10, on SEC Network+ with Dolan and Eklund on the call from inside the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium.
The Razorbacks and Sooners, who joined the SEC ahead of the 2025 campaign, are set to square off this weekend for the first time as conference opponents. Since 1970, the two programs have met on the diamond 27 times with Arkansas owning a 14-13 overall record, including a 6-3 advantage in games played in Fayetteville, in the series history.

History Lesson
Arkansas is 14-13 overall against Oklahoma since 1970, including a 6-3 record in games played in Fayetteville. In the Dave Van Horn era (2003-pres.), the Razorbacks are 3-4 overall and 1-1 at Baum-Walker Stadium against the Sooners.
The Hogs have lost four consecutive games – all of which were midweek contests – to the Sooners dating back to the 2010 season. Prior to that, Arkansas had won seven of its last eight games against Oklahoma between 1996-2009.
Here’s The SEC Situation
With just two SEC weekend series to play, Arkansas, currently 13-11 through 24 league games, must post a 5-1 record over its final six contests of the year to reach the 18-win mark in conference play for the ninth consecutive season.
Entering the 2026 campaign, the Razorbacks have won 18 or more SEC games in eight consecutive seasons (2017-25) and are one of only two teams in conference history to accomplish the aforementioned feat. LSU is the only other SEC program to record at least eight consecutive seasons of 18 or more SEC victories (10 from 1996-2005).
Dazzlin’ Dietz
Plagued by injuries during the first two years of his collegiate career, Arkansas ace Hunter Dietz is now fully healthy and quickly proving why he is one of the top left-handers in college baseball. Through his 12 starts on the mound this season, the Trinity, Fla., native owns a 6-2 record with a 3.43 ERA and an SEC-leading 101 strikeouts in 65.2 innings of work.
After beginning the season as the Razorbacks’ game two starter, Dietz will make his fifth consecutive series-opening start Friday night against the Sooners. The left-hander has tallied a team-leading seven quality starts this year, the most by a Razorback pitcher in a season since LHP Zach Root recorded seven quality starts during the 2025 campaign.

In his last outing on the mound, Dietz raised his season strikeout total to 101 with nine punchouts against Ole Miss (May 1) to become the first SEC pitcher this year to eclipse the 100-strikeout mark. Entering Friday night, he is 13 strikeouts shy of cracking the Razorbacks’ single-season top 10 and tying LHP Drew Smyly (114) for 10th most in a season.
