2016 Bowerman Watch: Jarrion Lawson
ORLANDO, Fla. – Earlier this year, Jarrion Lawson was announced on Jan. 7 as one of 10 men selected to the preseason Bowerman Watchlist by the USTFCCCA. Eleven months, one week and two days later, Lawson will take the stage in the Mediterranean Ballroom of the JW Marriott Grande Lakes as one of three men’s finalists for arguably the most revered prize in collegiate track and field, The Bowerman Award.
The Bowerman Award emerged in 2009 as the top award in collegiate track and field presented annually to the most outstanding male and female athletes in the country. Past recipients of the trophy include Olympians and World championship medalists.
Lawson is the second Razorback to reach the final stage of selection (Tina Sutej, 2011) and the first member of the men’s squad to do so.
His progressions in the jumps, relays and open sprints progressed tremendously during his four-year stead as a Razorback. Lawson, a Texarkana, Texas, native improved from an already impressive three All-American nods during his freshman season to boasting seven during his final campaign.
