TUSCON, Ariz. – The fifth-ranked Arkansas men’s golf program sits in eighth place in the 15-team Arizona N.I.T. after 36 holes of golf on Friday at Omni Tucson National – Catalina Course. The Razorbacks posted two rounds under par and are -10 (566) for the event.

While the Razorbacks are eighth, the top nine teams in the field are ranked among the nation’s top 30.

No. 2 Oklahoma State dominated the field on Friday thanks to rounds of 266 (-22) and 269 (-19) for a 36-hole total of 535 (-41). The Cowboys lead host and second-place #30 Arizona (556) by 21 strokes. Top-ranked Oklahoma and #12 New Mexico are tied for third (558) while #12 Texas and #9 Pepperdine are tied for fifth (560). Illinois (ranked 25th) is seventh at 561, followed by Arkansas (566) and #13 Tennessee (567).

By posting rounds under par in both rounds Friday, Arkansas has shot below par in 14 of its 20 rounds of stroke play this season including 9-of-11 rounds this spring.
#3 Luke Long leads the Razorbacks. The graduate senior is tied for 17th with a two-round total of 140 (69-71 / -4). He has shot below par in seven straight rounds.
Wil Gibson is tied for 23rd (70-71). The Jonesboro product tied his career-best, 36-hole score of 141 – which is a season-best. He led the field with 29 pars thanks to a bogey-free 71 in round two (17 pars and a birdie).
Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira and Segundo Oliva Pinto are tied for 36th, each at 1-under, 143.
Julian Perico played the par 5’s at -6, the second-best total behind two players that played the par 5’s at -7.

The third and final round is set for Friday.
