5-seed Arkansas Shuts Out Dartmouth in NCAA Tournament Opener
FAYETTEVILLE – 5-seed Arkansas women’s soccer (10-4-4) just needed one goal to defeat Dartmouth (11-4-4), 1-0, and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the eighth straight year.
Freshman Vailana Tu’ua broke the 0-0 tie in the 61st minute with a left-footed strike from outside the 18-yard box. The Redondo Beach, California native leads the Razorbacks with six goals and 15 points.
Sophomore goalkeeper Keegan Smith returned to action for the first time since the Vanderbilt match on Sept. 18 and picked up her first shutout since the match at No. 11 BYU on Sept. 2.
The Hogs dominated in the first half, ahead in shots 6-1 and corner kicks 7-0, but didn’t get anything across.
