#8 Razorback MGolf Opens Spring Season
FAYETTEVILLE – After an impressive fall campaign, the #8 Arkansas men’s golf program will look to continue its good fortune as the Razorbacks open the spring portion of their schedule in Puerto Rico this weekend (Feb. 11-13 • Sunday-Tuesday) at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate, played on the par-72, 7,122-yard Flamboyant Course at Palmas del Mar Golf Club.
Arkansas had three top 3 finishes in four fall events – including a win at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational – and the program recorded some of its best rounds in school history.
The top three golfers from the fall will occupy the top three spots in the lineup.
John Driscoll III and Jacob Skov Olesen each posted a scoring average of 70.0 this past fall while John Daly II was just five strokes back to post a 70.45 scoring average. Driscoll and Olesen each had three top-20 finishes – including a pair of top 10s – and tied for the team lead with five rounds in the 60s. Daly was the only Razorback to post top-20 finishes in all four fall events while he and Driscoll tied for the team lead with nine rounds at par or better.
New to the lineup will be senior Christian Castillo and junior Matthis Lefevre with Manuel Lozada competing as an individual.
Both Lefevre and Castillo played as individuals in two events in the fall with Lefevre posting two top-10s and Castillo having two top-20s.
Lefevre, last year’s Junior College Player of the Year and 10-time winner in two years at New Mexico Junior College, had a scoring average of 70.25 with a runner-up finish at the Cardinal Individual Collegiate and a sixth-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate.
Castillo was 18th at the Blessings and ninth at the Cardinal. He additionally posted a third-place finish at the South American Amateur Championship last month.
